Northridge School Mexico offers a very extensive Music Education program, as well as a complete Visual Arts curriculum whose target is to contribute to the development and formation of our students.
From PF to 12th grades, all boys are required to play an instrument as part of their curriculum. Our younger or newer students start out with instruments such as the violin, cello and flute, and some go on to play various other instruments or join the different award-winning ensembles that make up our After-school music program:
- Ninja Flute Choir
- Samurai Woodwinds Choir
- NSM Boys Choir
- Petit Orchestre
- Bowing Strings
- Downtown Strings
- City Jazz Band
- Atomic Band
- Metropoli Jazz Band
Music
Our boys have performed at local events and venues such as the Soumaya Museum, the Papalote Children’s Museum, the Museum of Popular Art, the Universidad Panamericana, the Teatro del Parque, the 7th & 8th FICUP Festivals, Monteverde School’s MAF (Monteverde Arts Festival) and our very own LAF (Live Arts Festival).
On an international scale, our ensembles and choir have toured cities like Chicago, Hong Kong, and Beijing, with performances at landmarks such as the Great Wall of China. While in Chicago, our boys earned well-deserved 1st place recognitions at the Six Flags Music Festival, both for individual performances and as a group.
Our NSM Boys Choir members also have a few outstanding performances under their belt, in events such as “Cantus in Adventu”, the “Entre Coros” Festival, and the “Encuentro Infantil de la Universidad La Salle”.
They also performed for Pope Francis as part of the monumental choir that was put together for his visit, and they have had the privilege of working under the direction of personalities such as Teresa Navarro and José Galván.
Moreover, boys have the opportunity to obtain their Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Certification, as well as various Suzuki Music Program recognition certificates.
Visual Arts
Our Visual Arts program is offered to boys from PF to 5th grades, and assists students in developing problem solving skills while enhancing their creativity.
Teaching the arts sets the stage for solving difficult problems visually, which makes them easier to understand.
The arts provide challenges for students at all levels of learning which translate into valuable skills and success in the classroom.
